Mark your calendars! We will be celebrating Unity Day again at the Long Center on Monday, October 3, 2016.
This is our 2nd Annual event and here’s a little history:
Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) evolved from the “Day of Unity” in October 1981 and was conceived by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The intent was to connect domestic violence advocates across the country at a local, state, and national level.
The Survive2Thrive Foundation is organizing a citywide show of support on Monday, October 3 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
The event will have some brief speaking, live music, and informational booths from some of the domestic violence and sexual assault organizations in Central Texas.
The Survive2Thrive Foundation focuses energy, attention and love to this battered group of courageous, resilient people through this community initiative throughout the month of October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM).
Our goals for this evening:
- Create awareness of Unity Day and DVAM.
- Show solidarity between all of the domestic violence organizations.
- Demonstrate support and create a safe environment to encourage survivors and give them a voice.
- Celebrate survivors and their families at the beautiful Long Center.
Please help us celebrate this underserved community of survivors of domestic violence. This night will give them the empowerment and unified voice they so desperately need, being celebrated for their resiliency, resourcefulness, and recovery.
